"Saygun’s suite is different, heavily folk-influenced both rhythmically and harmonically, and both Selim Giray and Chun-Young dig into it with relish. The CD wraps up with Sami Uçar’s Ha Usaklar…and Giray makes the most of it.  As for the performers…Selim Giray is an interesting figure. In addition to his position as associate professor of violin, viola, and chamber music at Pittsburg State University (in Kansas), he is an active researcher. Among other activities, he has published a biography of Saygun, given master classes in Paraguay, and serves as both concertmaster and assistant conductor of the Ohio Light Opera. Recommended."

"Michael Borowitz instills good humor into the playing of his Ohio Light Opera Festival musicians and vocalists."
American Record Guide

"The singers never condescend to the material, the waltzes are played at a healthy clip, the orchestra never lags... This ‘live, onstage’ recording from Ohio Light Opera preserves all the original sweetness and vitality of Herbert’s lovely score."

"The cast sounds just right for this spoof on the Victorian gothic melodrama... conductor Michael Borowitz obviously loves the score and even gives an encore of the last stanza of the patter trio."
American Record Guide

"All the performances are first-class... Conductor Michael Borowitz exhibits absolute command over the wit and verve of Sullivan's unjustly neglected score."
